Vijayawada: For the first time, six lakh out of the seven lakh students studying in Classes 3, 6 and 9 in Andhra Pradesh would be taking the State Assessment Survey Examination conducted by the Union Government in 27,406 schools. The examination would be held on Nov 3, 2023.

Principal secretary to school education department, Praveen Prakash, said this would be the first time that such a large number of students from government schools in AP take a national-level assessment survey in English medium.

He sought the support of collectors and DEOs to motivate students for the exam through holding motivational classes for students and teachers. Schools shall conduct mock tests every day from Oct 26 to Nov 2 to help students prepare for the exam.

Praveen Prakash noted that AP initiated the transition to English as the medium of instruction in government schools from 2020-2021, spanning classes 1 through 6. The current batch of students who began their English medium education in 2020-2021 is poised to take the 10th-Class exam next year.

“These students have not previously appeared even in a state-level examination. The successful conduct of this exam will send a strong message that government schools in AP provide quality education to students in English medium,” he said.
