Alluri district destroys ganja cultivated in 64 acres

Visakhapatnam: In a two-day crackdown, the police in Alluri district have destroyed ganja cultivated on 64 acres of the agency area.

SP Tohin Sinha has intensified the efforts that would last until February. Cases have been filed against several individuals.

The police said they are collaborating with local communities to destroy the ganja plantations.

Similar efforts are being undertaken in other regions. A recent operation led to the destruction of ganja plantations in 25 cents. Ganja cultivation is prevalent in the border areas of Odisha, and regular vehicle checks are being done to neutralize the situation.

During the present crackdown, the police filed cases against some individuals responsible for ganja cultivation in 64 acres of G Madugula mandal. This includes 9 acres in J Madugula, 22 acres in Pedabayalu and 33 acres in Munisingi Puttu.

“Highlighting the involvement of tribal communities in the EOB area, we conducted a special operation resulting in the destruction of 25 cents of fanja plantations,” police said.

Information about ongoing cultivation in villages near Rallagadda - G Neredupalli on the Odisha border area prompted active engagement with local farmers. Officers from the Odisha region confirmed the prevalence of ganja cultivation, leading to increased vigilance by the police.
