Footpath Near JNTU Cleared
Hyderabad: The blocked footpath highlighted in these columns on November 17, from the JNTU quarters to JNTU gate, has been cleared by the municipal authorities. The previously congested pathway, obstructed by vendors, posed a challenge for pedestrians, who would have to step into the busy road, raising concerns among residents about safety and accessibility.
The report, ‘JNTU footpaths usurped, pedestrians left in lurch’ highlighted hindrances, including non-functional toilets, debris, and mud deposits, that were impeding pedestrians. The footpaths have now been cleared for their intended use.
A pedestrian, Sai Verma, said that the authorities needed to act quickly to encroachments quickly, particularly in areas where unclear footpaths pose safety risks.
While acknowledging that this issue is not new, there is hope that the recent attention garnered will lead to sustained improvements, addressing both encroachment problems and ensuring safer pathways for pedestrians, Verma added.
