Bhopal: An old dance video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Damoh assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh Chahat Pandey, who has acted in many TV serials, has gone viral on social media, putting her in the spotlight.

In the clip, she was seen dancing to the tune of ‘Oh Ladka Aankh maare’, a popular number from the Bollywood movie ‘Tere Mere Sapne’, while sporting shorts.

A local political activist tagged the video in his social media network site attracting both negative and positive comments.

While the political activist targeted the AAP for fielding a non-serious candidate like her, a number of social media buffs have praised her for her bold dance.

Ms Pandey on Friday regretted that a five-year-old video of her was made viral to show her in poor light.

“The video is around five years old and shot in my house in the presence of my mother and brother. There is nothing wrong in the video. The political activist who made the video viral on social media has only exposed his parochial mindset”, she told the media.

She wondered why a five-year-old video has been made viral on social media now and suspected a conspiracy by vested interests to show her in poor light and tarnish image of AAP in public.

“Dance is a form of art. I am an actor. Acting is my profession. The video is wrongly presented to taint my image and tarnish the image of my party, AAP, in public. Besides, there is nothing wrong in my dance video. It is just like storm in a tea cup”, she said.

Damoh-born Ms Pandey has acted in many popular TV serials.

She portrayed the lead roles as Pakhi Parekh in Hamari Bahu Silk, Durga Aneja in Durga Mata Ki Chhaya, and Mahua Mishra in Nath-Zewar Ya Zanjeer.
