RTC driver sentenced to 2-yr imprisonment for fatal accident

Hyderabad: In a first of its kind verdict, Yellanki Yadaiah, RTC driver involved in a fatal accident at Yacharam in 2018, was sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000. A 30-year-old witness to the accident deposed before the court.

The witness, four years after the incident, recollected it accurately in court. Based on his evidence and that of other witnesses who deposed that the driver was driving in a rash and negligent manner even before the accident, the court found the bus driver guilty.

The bus was heading towards Manchal when it hit the victim from behind. He was rushed to Osmania hospital where he died after a couple of hours. The witness who was returning home from work explained how the incident happened and identified the driver.
