Kottayam: Power minister M.M. Mani has refused to resign  following the verdict of the additional district and sessions court at Thodupuzha rejecting his discharge petition in the Ancherry Baby murder case. “Am I going to resign when the Opposition  says  so.  It is the LDF which  made me a minister.  There is a political conspiracy behind the  case  which was initiated by Ramesh Chennithala and Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan,” he told reporters here.

“It is a court at Thodupuzha which has issued  the verdict now. There are other courts.  I will face the case politically and legally. I have deputed an advocate at  my own expense.  Let us wait and see where this will end,”  he said.   CPM  Idukki district secretary K.K. Jayachandran said that the verdict was unexpected and added that  they will approach the HC against it.
