CJI visits Durga temple; attends high tea hosted by CM
Justice Ramana, who was accompanied by his wife, took part in the rituals and was welcomed with the Poornakumbha
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice N. V. Ramana visited Kanaka Durga temple and offered special pujas on Saturday. Minister for transport Perni Venkatramaiah, on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government, accorded a traditional welcome to the CJI, along with temple priests amidst rituals.
Justice Ramana, who was accompanied by his wife, took part in the rituals and was welcomed with the Poornakumbha. Justice Ramana couple presented silk clothes to Goddess Durga. The temple priests felicitated Justice Ramana and presented him 'prasadam' and mementoes.
MP Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani, endowments secretary G. Vani Mohan, endowments commissioner Hari Jawaharlal, Krishna district collector J. Nivas and others welcomed the CJI.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who returned from the Kadapa tour, went to Novotel hotel immediately after landing at the airport. The Chief Minister met the CJI at Novotel hotel in Vijayawada and invited him to the high tea organised by the Andhra Pradesh government in the Indira Gandhi stadium to honour the CJI.
Later in the evening, Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with his wife Y.S. Bharathi Reddy, welcomed Justice Ramana who participated in the high tea event. Jagan introduced his ministers and MLAs to Justice Ramana and other judges.
Deputy Chief Ministers and ministers attended the event. Supreme Court Judge J. K. Maheshwari, Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Justice of Telangana, judges of both the High Courts and officials were present on the occasion.
