Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police conducted a cordon-and-search operation in Moosapet, under Kukatpally Police station limits, on Saturday midnight.

About two weeks ago, an intermediate student from Moosapet Eragalla Sudheer was brutally murdered by a group of five, as a result of a fight between two groups that took place at a ground near Goodshed at Moosapet. It was rumoured that a family which was dominating the area, had a clash with another group, which lead to a series of events that ended in murder.

According to sources, the operation was aimed at putting a check on anti-social activities, and on the people involved in them, in the Moosapet area. However police officials stated that the operation was conducted as part of a routine procedure and had nothing to do with the recent murder. Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said that the cordon-and-search operations would continue in all the areas under the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits.

In the operation that lasted  two hours on Saturday midnight, around 650 houses were thoroughly checked for absconding suspects, wanted persons, rowdy sheaters and anti-social elements. Some 18 suspects who did not have proper identification documents were apprehended.
