Especially the formation of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB), besides protecting the agriculture sector.
Tiruchy: The All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) founder-president and popular actor Sarathkumar wanted called for unity among the Tamil Nadu people from various walks of life to fight “for our rights” in Cauvery water issue, especially the formation of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB), besides protecting the agriculture sector.
Sarathkumar who is currently on a “Cauvery Urimai Meetpu Vilippunarvu” (awareness) rally that began at Mettur reservoir on March 22 and is on its way to Mayiladuthurai, told a wayside meeting at suburb Tiruverumbur-Kattur near here on Sunday that though the Supreme court’s order was slightly disappointing, the directive to form the CMB “will help us to protect our rights in Cauvery water.”
With an eye on the elections to the Karnataka State Assembly both the Karnataka government and Centre made all-out efforts for not forming the CMB, he said and urged Tamil Nadu government to put pressure on Delhi.
Sarathkumar said after this ‘yatra’ which will culminate at Mayiladuthurai on Tuesday, his party will also support the ongoing protests against Sterlite factory at Tuticorin. Later, he left here for Grand Anicut.
