Solar scam: Govt replaces public prosecutor
The Commission was appointed pursuant to a demand by the LDF while it was in the Opposition.
Kochi: At a time when the solar judicial commission is making efforts to complete the proceedings before October when its tenure ends, the government has replaced the public prosecutor appearing in the commission. Advocate-General C.P. Sudhakara Prasad has entrusted the duty with Mr P. Narayanan, who was recently appointed as the senior government pleader.
Mr Roshen D. Alexander was appearing for the state before the commission so far. Pursuant to the change, Mr Narayanan appeared before the commission for the state on Saturday. According to Mr Narayanan, the new appointment will not affect the proceedings before the court.
"My duty is to assist the commission and to produce the files needed by the commission. I will make all efforts to assist the commission in the case," he said. Though the case file is huge, it won't affect the remaining part of the proceedings, he added. Though the commission's tenure was extended till October 31, it may submit the report in September itself by completing the evidence collection in the coming weeks.
Justice Sivarajan Commission was appointed to probe into the multi-crore scam in which Saritha S. Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan amassed wealth misusing their contacts with the top brass of then ruling front. The Commission was appointed pursuant to a demand by the LDF while it was in the Opposition.
