Yaduveer raga' for Mysuru royal wedding

The royal wedding ceremony will be performed to the strains of the nadaswara played by musician Krishnamurthy.

Yaduveer Krishnadata Chamaraja Wadiyar performs paada pooja of Rajaguru Sri Parakaal math seer, Sri Abhinava Vaageesha Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swamiji as per royal tradition on Saturday.

Mysuru: It’s a royal wedding that all of Mysuru is waiting for  and to mark it violinists of international repute, Dr Mysore Manjunath and Mysore Nagaraj have come out with a new raga they have named Yaduveera manohari after the young scion of the Mysuru royal family, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who will tie the knot on June 27 with his bride, Trishikha Kumari of the royal family of Rajkot.

With just a day to go for the royal nuptials the talented musicians were busy  composing their new raga at their home in Ramakrishnanagar here on Saturday.

The two will perform eight compositions in all for over one-and-a- half hours on a podium designed to replicate the one used for concerts in the durbar of the late Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar , a great patron of music, during the Urutane on Uyyale ceremony that will see the royal couple playing with a ball of flowers while seated on a swing the evening of their wedding day.

Accompanied on the double mrindanga by Jayachandra Rao and B C Manjunth,  and double kanjara by Amrit and Guruprasanna,the two will also perform some compositions of  Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar himself.

Catapulting into the limelight as child prodigies, the duo, who are disciples of renowned violinist, Prof Mahadevappa, have over 150 compositions to their credit and have performed at prominent venues in over 40 countries, including the Royal Albert hall in London, the Opera House in Sydney, Australia, at the World Music Festival in Chicago, and before the Slovania Congress.

The royal wedding ceremony itself will be performed to the strains of the nadaswara played by musician, Krishnamurthy.
