2 electrocuted, one injured in Kanakapura
All the three hailed from Maadli village at Shiggaon in Haveri district.
BENGALURU: Two labourers were electrocuted, while another sustained serious injuries when power was restored even as they were working on an electric pole at Doddamudavadi village in Harohalli in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagar district on Monday evening. The deceased have been identified as Mahesh, 21, and Mylari, 22, while the injured Mallikarjun, 22, is undergoing treatment at a hospital. All the three hailed from Maadli village at Shiggaon in Haveri district.
They were daily wage workers with a contractor who had undertaken works in Doddamudavadi village for Niranthara Jyothi project. They were living in a temporary shed in the same village and were working in the village for the last one month. Even on Monday evening, they were working on an electric pole, but the power was restored without any prior information.
All the three received electric shocks. While Mahesh and Mylari died on the pole and fell down, Mallikarjun sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the two bodies to a hospital for the postmortem. The villagers expressed anger over the negligence of electric supply company officials, who did not visit the spot even three hours after the incident.
