NHRC notice to police on land grabbing

HYDERABAD: The National Human Rights Commission at Delhi on Tuesday accepted a complaint that BRS MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and his associates had allegedly taken over the premises of Fenestration Systems Pvt Ltd situated in Survey No.s 33/8 and 33/9 at Jeedimetla in Medchal Malkajgiri district on the intervening night of June 25.

On Monday, the Telangana High Court issued notices to ruling the BRS MLA with regard to the alleged land grab attempt. The court was responding to a petition filed by Ajay and Sulochana Agarwal, directors of Fenestration Systems. The notice also asked the Telangana police to reply to allegations that they favoured the MLA and his henchmen by not registering the crime.

D. Gajapathi Naidu of Fenestration Systems had submitted a complaint to NHRC stating that the 100 persons, said to be followers of MLA Gandhi, had invaded the factory and tried to murder him when he had resisted them. They had tried to steal aluminium sheets and demolish the factory premises.

The NHRC accepted the complaint of Naidu and assigned the case diary number. The commission also directed the Medchal police to take action on the complaint of the factory owners, who had said that the Pet Basheerabad police were not registering the case against the followers of MLA Gandhi.
