A three-member committee headed by prof. Sobha Cyrus will conduct a detailed inquiry.
KOCHI: Four third semester Marine Engineering students of the Cochin University of Science and Technology were suspended on Thursday pending a detailed inquiry for allegedly ragging two first semester students also doing marine engineering. “The suspension was handed for using harsh words against the students and not for any physical ragging,” said course-in-charge Prof N G. Nair.
He said that one more student would be suspended soon in this connection. “A detailed inquiry will be conducted by the three-member committee headed by former School of Engineering principal Prof Sobha Cyrus and the final action will be taken based on this committee’s report,” he said. The two students, one belonging to Kollam and the other Ernakulam, who alleged ragging had stopped studying at Cusat after the incident.
