Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance director Jacob Thomas has sent a letter to the CBI director Anil Kumar Sinha expressing doubts over the genuineness of an affidavit the CBI filed in the High Court expressing willingness to probe into the alleged irregularities in a private employment he had taken up. According to sources, the vigilance director sent the letter through Chief Secretary S.M. Vijayanand.

Dr. Thomas alleged in the letter that the affidavit submitted by the agency was against the normal procedures and urged the CBI chief to check whether the affidavit was filed under any undue pressure. Dr. Thomas allegedly violated service rules by going for employment at TKM Institute of Management obtaining a remuneration of '8.47 lakh without obtaining government permission in 2009.

The CBI had on Monday filed the affidavit before the court which was considering a petition filed by one Sathyan Naravoor of Kannur. The CBI statement said that the central agency was ready to take up the probe since serious allegations of abuse of official position and misconduct by a senior officer was reported. A probe earlier conducted by DGP N Shanker Reddy as per a Lok Ayukta directive also found that Dr. Thomas had violated service rules.
