KOZHIKODE: Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Ganapati Raju promised Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan that once the renovation of the runway is over, the request to restart flights in code E section would be considered. A special team from the Directorate of General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) would be visiting Calicut International airport, Karipur soon and a decision would be taken after that, he said.

The MP met the minister and Minister of State Jayant Sinha over the same issue. He reminded that Calicut is the fourth airport in the country in terms of revenue. Nearly 98 per cent of the passengers from here are to the Gulf. Services to the Gulf countries were held from here even before the re-carpeting here, said the MP. However, the services were stopped for the renovation works.
