Thick fog forces diversion of flights from RGIA
Hyderabad: International and domestic passengers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) had a tough time on Monday after the airport authority diverted around 12 flights that were to land in RGIA, to other airports due to thick fog across the airport surroundings.
The officials diverted flights to Vijayawada, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Nagpur due to bad weather conditions and fog covering the runway.
According to officials, WY235 Muscat-Hyderabad of Oman Air and 6E 744 flight from Goa were diverted to Bengaluru; UK 897 Bengaluru-Hyderabad was asked to return to Bengaluru; IndiGo’s 6E5012 Mumbai-Hyderabad; 6E 495 Chennai-Hyderabad and Vistara’s 6E 1318 Doha-Hyderabad flight and 6E 086 from Dammam were all diverted to Nagpur. Meanwhile, Vistara’s UK 873 flight from Mumbai had to fly back to Mumbai.
Flight 6E 867 from Chandigarh and 6E 484 Bengaluru-Hyderabad were both diverted to Vijayawada, while 6E 1493 from Riyadh was diverted to Bengaluru.
