K K Rema for CBI probe into TP Chandrasekharan murder
Ms Rema told DC that there was no response to her repeated pleas to the centre and the BJP leadership seeking a CBI probe into the conspiracy.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the police probe into the conspiracy behind the murder of T.P. Chandrasekharan reaching nowhere, his wife K.K. Rema is planning to move the court for a CBI probe. Ms Rema told DC that there was no response to her repeated pleas to the centre and the BJP leadership seeking a CBI probe into the conspiracy. Meanwhile, a probe initiated by the previous UDF government into the conspiracy part remained inconclusive even after collecting crucial evidence that pointed fingers at the CPM leadership. The team itself does not exist now with its members getting transferred and some retiring from service.
The special team headed by then ADGP north-zone Shanker Reddy had collected the call details records that linked some members of the gang that executed the murder with CPM’s top leaders. To quiz them, the special investigation team had sought certified copies of the call details which have to be issued by the centre. Though the previous UDF government had sent a request in this regard to the centre, there was no further follow-up as Mr. Reddy was transferred from ADGP north-zone post and SP V.K. Akbar, who was leading the probe, retired from service.
