Loknath Behera to talk with BSF on detained jawan Shibin Thomas

ALAPPUZHA: The state government has initiated action to get justice for Shibin Thomas from Alappuzha,  a BSF constable with the 28 battalion based at  Raiganj in West Bengal, who has been detained allegedly on trumped up charges. State police chief Loknath Behera will talk to Border Security Force officials on Monday regarding John who was taken into custody last week on the charge of misbehaving with a colleague. The DGP intervened following the initiative taken by  Finance Minister and local legislator Dr T.M. Thomas Isaac on Saturday after the jawan’s parents held a press meeting  on Friday  explaining his plight.  

Thomas John, father of Shibin  who  has been serving with the BSF for the last 13 years, will meet the DGP in  Thiruvananthapurm on Monday.   He said an inquiry which was going on against his son concluded  on Friday. But he has not been released from detention.  The BSF officials did not respond to the parents’ queries. They  alleged that he was framed with a false charge by his senior officials after he tried to expose their corruption  in his previous 41 battalion by filing an RTI with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on  September 24, 2015. After the case was charged, Shibin was dismissed from service without pensionary benefits in December 2015.   However,  he  was later reinstated in service  pending inquiry in December 2016 after his parents sent a petition to the PMO.
