Bengaluru: A 25-year-old man stumped the Bengaluru police when he stepped inside the Wilson Garden police station claiming to be infected with the coronavirus Covid-19 and asking to be hospitalized.

The young man said he had gone to the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital as he suspected he had contracted the coronavirus. The doctors checked him and told him he did not have the infection.

They gave him a prescription of tablets and advised him to take rest in isolation. But a lower-rung hospital staffer told him he had contracted “10 per cent of the corona infection”.

In fear, the man rushed to the hospital demanding to be admitted. The doctors again convinced him he had no symptoms of the infection and asked him to go home.

Not convinced, the man went to the Wilson Garden police station seeking help to get admitted to hospital. The police summoned a mobile health squad to get him checked. The mobile squad doctor did so and again reiterated that the man had no infection.

The Wilson Garden police then told the man, a painter from Puttenahalli, to stand outside the police station. However, the Wilson Garden police said they appreciated the fact that the young man wanted to be checked for symptoms and did not hesitate to approach a hospital.
