Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has shot off a letter to CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury demanding the ouster of Power Minister M. M. Mani from the cabinet for his derogatory comments against women.  “It’s a grave offence  as per Indian Penal Code,” he said. Mr Chennithala asked  Mr  Yechury to direct  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to sack Mr Mani.  “Mr Mani has lost the moral right to continue in office,” he said.

“His comments are against the communist party’s ideologies upholding democratic values and its fight to  empower  women.  Mani  had taken the oath to uphold the integrity of his position as a minister,”  he said. He   rued that  the Mani  issue had  snowballed into a major controversy in the public domain.
