Kozhikode Medical College Hospital opens fever clinic as cases rise
Many cases of dengue and chicken pox have been identified.
Kozhikode: As the number of fever cases mounts, a special fever clinic has started at Kozhikode medical college hospital, functioning from 8 am to 2 pm and 2 to 8 pm at casualty section. Many cases of dengue and chicken pox have been identified. Meanwhile, in the wake of increasing cases of H1N1 fever, the district medical office has asked the public to be vigilant. According to the data published by health department, 56 cases of H1 N1 and 3 deaths have been reported so far in the district. In January, three cases of H1N1 were reported, and in April 12 cases and 1 death.
As many as 33 such cases and two deaths were reported in May. “If the symptoms including fever, coughing and wheezing last longer than usual, consult a doctor immediately. Those who are pregnant or have heart diseases, diabetes, B.P, liver or kidney diseases should be careful”, said district medical officer Dr. Ashadevi. The medical officer also urged doctors to be vigilant on diagnosis and follow the guidelines.
