All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza lambasted Modi government, alleging that it is a reign of broken promises.'
Thiruvananthapuram: All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza described the three-year rule of the Narendra Modi government, as a reign of ‘broken promises’ and ‘shattered dreams’and accused the Centre of spending Rs 2000 crore for the third anniversary celebrations to cover up “hollow” promises. Ms Oza while speaking to reporters here on Friday, alleged that corruption had been reported from many BJP-ruled states. However, the saffron party and Modi were completely mum on the issue. Ms Oza listed Vyapam Scam in Madhya Pradesh, PDS scam in Chhattisgarh, land scam in Gujarat, dam scam in Arunachal Pradesh and asked the reason why the Modi government was not conducting inquiries into such corruption allegations.
The borders of the country had become completely unsafe during the three years of the BJP government, Ms Oza said citing repeated terrorist attacks, border ceasefire violations and infiltration of terrorists from across the border. On questions about the recent incident of a law student chopping of the genitals of a sanyasi during an alleged rape bid, Ms Oza said the woman took the extreme step as she had lost confidence and faith in the police system in the state. Though, there were several laws for the security of girls in the country, they were not being implemented properly. It was in such a circumstance that the girl took the extreme step, she said. Asked about the statement of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor that the girl who chopped off the genitals of a ‘godman’ should have approached the police, Ms Oza said that it was his personal view and not that of the party.
