Guard against hijackers of Sivagiri Mutt: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Mr. Vijayan alleged that SNDP Yogam authorities have become friendly with dark elements.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a veiled attack against SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that there were efforts from certain quarters to hijack the Sivagiri Mutt. He urged the Mutt authorities to understand the reality. Mr. Vijayan was speaking after inaugurating the year-long centenary celebrations of Sree Narayana Guru’s proclamation that 'we don't have religion’.
It may be recalled that on Thursday, BJP national president Amit Shah had visited Sivagiri Mutt along with Bharat Dharma Jana Sena State president Tushar Vellapally urging the Sivagiri Mutt authorities to join hands with BDJS so as to garner more support from the Ezhava community. Mr. Vijayan alleged that SNDP Yogam authorities have become friendly with dark elements.
"Shree Narayana Guru had preached that one should not ask, talk or even think about caste. Now, things have changed. Now it is preached that there is nothing wrong in asking, talking or thinking about caste," said Mr. Vijayan. He rued the fact that some vested interests were trying to wean away the Guru’s followers to the communal organisations. “This ploy has to be thwarted,” he urged.
The inaugural programme was also attended by Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust general secretary Swami Rithambarananda, secretary Swami Guru Prasad, Chempazhanthy Gurukulam secretary Swami Shubhangananda and Gandhian P. Gopinathan Nair.
