Kollam West SI N Gireesh faces heat for recording MLA missing case
The SI didn't advise the complainant to withdraw or approach the court much to the displeasure of the CPM leadership.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kollam West SI N. Gireesh has landed in a soup over his decision to accept the complaint from Youth Congress leaders for a man missing case against actor and local MLA Mukesh. Special branch assistant commissioner Rex Bobby Aravin has recommended action against Mr Gireesh after the CPM leadership took up the issue.
The Special Branch DySP gave a report to Kollam Commissioner Sathish Bino seeking action against Mr Gireesh. In the report it said that the SI had not made even a basic inquiry, before registering the complaint. Usually, when an SI receives such a complaint, he checks whether the complainant is a relative of the missing person and whether it had brought any inconvenience to the complainant. In this case, as the alleged missing person is a popular figure and an MLA, SI should have acted more judiciously, the report said.
Mr Mukesh does not stay within the limits of the police station where the complaint was registered. The SI didn't advise the complainant to withdraw or approach the court much to the displeasure of the CPM leadership. DCP Mr. Aravin told DC that action will be initiated against Mr. Gireesh on Monday. But he declined to comment what sort of punishment would be meted out to him.
