Charminar Closed For Visitors on Muharram: ASI
Hyderabad: The Charminar will be closed on Saturday in view of Muharram to be observed on July 29.
The Director General, Archaeological Survey of India in exercise of the powers conferred under Rule 5 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules 1959 declared the closure for visitors and the general public.
"As per the request by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Charminar Division, Hyderabad, the Centrally protected monument, Charminar, Hyderabad will remain closed for public viewing on 29-07-2023 and also the online sale of tickets will not be functional," an official statement said.
Thousands of Shia Muslims are to take part in the mourning procession, a 400-year-old tradition, mark the martyrdom of Imam Hussain on Saturday.
