Kerala government sanctions walkway along Hospital Road

The KMRL has already constructed a modern walkway cum cycle track along Shihab Thangal Road in Panampilly Nagar.

In an order, the director of health services has agreed to provide the land though its ownership will remain with the health department.

KOCHI: The state government has issued an order permitting Kochi Metro Rail Limited to construct a modern walkway along both sides of the Hospital Road which will connect the boat jetty to the Metro station at Maharajas College. The walkway will not be elevated and will have a low-height wall with seating facilities, tiled pavement, shading through transparent roofing, digital display, hanging potted plants and space for advertisements.

KMRL had earlier requested the state government for permission to use the 15 cents owned by the General Hospital for constructing the modern walkway as part of its traffic infrastructure improvement initiatives. In an order, the director of health services has agreed to provide the land though its ownership will remain with the health department. As part of promoting non-motorised transport, the KMRL has already constructed a modern walkway cum cycle track along Shihab Thangal Road in Panampilly Nagar.
