Central University of Kerala meet to talk on education problems

Eminent persons will discuss various topics with the heads of the higher education institutions.

KASARGOD: Over 20 vice-chancellors and directors from IITs, NITs and IISER will discuss the problems facing  the universities at a four-day workshop at  the Central University of Kerala from August 28.   The workshop is being organised  by the Centre for Curriculum Research Policy and Education Development (CCRPED) funded by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching  project of the Human Resources Development Ministry.

The CUK is one of the nine institutions in India which received Rs 13-crore aid as part of the mission  to address the  issues related to teachers, teaching, teacher preparation and professional development.  Eminent persons will  discuss  various topics with the heads of the higher education institutions.  

Dr Amrit G Kumar,  head of the project  and CCRPED,  said that the workshop aimed at imparting leadership quality and administrative skills for the leaders of  higher education institutions.  “The VCs and directors will get classes from experts on various topics such as institution building and project implementation, reservation rules on appointments, triple accreditation and international accreditation,” he said. “They will also interact among themselves on the issues regarding  Indian varsities,” he added.

ICSSR member-secretary Dr V.K. Malhotra, former diplomat Dr T.P. Sreenivasan , legal luminary Dr N. R. Madhava Menon, IIM Calcutta  professor Dr Biju Paul Abraham, reservation policy expert Dr H.S. Rana and  former ISRO chairman G. Madhavan Nair will be  the resource persons.
