Over 1.3 crore saplings planted across TS in one day
Koti Vruksharchana programme was launched by forest minister Indrakaran at the Forest Trek Park developed in Chilkur reserve forest block
Hyderabad: The ‘Koti Vruksharchana’ programme, aimed at planting 1.25 crore saplings on a single day across Telangana, on Saturday saw a total of 1,30,78,300 saplings planted in 12,574 gram panchayats and urban local bodies, according to the state forest department.
The programme was launched by forest minister A Indrakaran Reddy at the Forest Trek Park developed in the Chilkur reserve forest block on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Thousands of people and 49,455 elected public representatives participated in the event, a statement said.
Of the saplings planted on Saturday, 4,13,000 were planted in the HMDA, 8,02,100 in Nalgonda district, 6,02,213 in Sangareddy and the least number– 74,685 – planted in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
