An orchestra with triple drum, harmonium, tabla and keyboard will accompany the song.
KASARGODE: As many as 1000 students and staff of the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls at Nellikunnu in Kasargod will sing ‘Gandhi Geetham’ on October 2 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Gandhi. They will sing the lines penned by Vidwan P. Kelu Nair, late Gandhian Congress leader and drama artiste, at their school ground. “The ‘Vandyan lokaika maanyan Gandhiji...’ lines written around 90 years ago will be sung in six minutes. All the students across HS, HSS, VHSE streams will participate besides teachers and non-teaching staff,” said Vellikoth Vishnu Bhat, the music teacher at the school.
According to school Head Mistress, K. Vishalakshy, novelty in programmes would attract students in knowing more about the father of the nation. “The last time, a few music students recited Gandhi Bajans in school. It propelled many to read ‘The story of my experiments with truth’,” she said. An orchestra with triple drum, harmonium, tabla and keyboard will accompany the song. The Endosulfan affected 17-year old Krishna Kishore, who recuperated through music therapy, will play the keyboard.
The HeadmMistress will inaugurate the function. Teachers P.P Deepak, P.P Sajithlal, Rameshan P and students M.S Indulekhs, S Vishnumaya among others are taking the initiative for the event.
