Hindu outfits oppose X'ian meets in Tirupati
Chaitanya samiti says parties fail to protect Hindu interests.
Tirupati: The Hindu organisations have again raised their voice against the non-Hindu organisations for trying to hurt the sentiments of Hindu pilgrims who come to Tirupati in large number to witness nine-day Brahmotsavams.
According to leaders of Hindu Chaitanya Vedika, Hindu Seva Samiti, Hindu Chaitanya Samiti student federation and Sivasakthi Sena who addressed media persons in Tirupati on Monday warned the Pentecostal Mission, a Christian organisation based at Chennai, to cancel their Suvartha meetings which were planned between October 6-9 in Tirupati, as the Srivari Brahmotsavams are also slated between October 3-11 in Tirumala.
Speaking on the occasion, T. Omkar, the president of Hindu Chaitanya Samiti, said during last year also the Pentecostal Mission has intentionally organised its religious meetings in Tirupati during Brahmotsavams, which was opposed by the Hindu organisations.
In the similar manner, this year also the Christian organisation has planned to organise its meetings in Tirupati during Brahmotsavams, which itself exposes its ill intentions, he alleged.
What is the need for Pentecostal Mission to conduct its religious meetings in Tirupati during Brahmotsavams when it can plan in some other days, he pointed out.
They demanded the government to declare Tirupati, Tirumala and Tiruchanur as Hindu holy shrines barring other religions openly conduct their activities.
He said that there is no permission from authorities in Tirupati to run churches, he said.
He flayed the BJP and TD for not protecting the sentiments of Hindus. In this regard, he recalled about the demolition of 40 temples in Vijayawada for the sake of road widening during the Krishna Pushkaralu.
Meanwhile another Hindu organisation Jai Bharat Seva Samsta has urged the administration to close liquor and meat shops in Tirupati during Srivari Brahmotsvams.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, the president of the organisation B. Kalyana Chakravarthi here said, the ban on liquor and meat shops is continuing on the Alipiri bypass road whereas in the other places of the city there is no such restriction.
As thousands of people from all over the country will visit Tirupati during Brahmotsavams, it is the need of the hour to protect the sanctity of the temple town by banning the liquor and meat sales in the entire city, he appealed.
