HYDERABAD: Lulu Mall (formerly Manjeera Mall) at Kukatpally will be opened for the public from 3 p.m. on Wednesday after its formal inauguration by Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao.

Giving a preview to the media of the revamped premises that has seen about Rs 300 crores investment, M.A. Ashraf Ali,  executive director of Lulu Group International, UAE-based retailer, said the mega mall was spread over five lakh sq ft with a two lakh sq ft Hypermarket, the newest addition here.  This is the first venture of the group in Telangana and is part of the Rs 500 crore investment that is committed to the state.

The mall hosts about 100 international and domestic brands, a five-screen cinema, and a food court that can accommodate about 500 people. It also has six restaurants.

The mall offers parking for about 1,000 cars and 900 bikes. The group will provide about 1,500 direct jobs at the mall in addition to about 2,000 jobs indirectly, he said.

The mall will have fresh produce and groceries, fashion, home appliances, electronics, mobiles, IT, and lifestyle products. It will also have an entertainment zone of about 20,000 sq ft.

The group plans to set up smaller-sized outlets in Tier II and III cities, he said. The company has also finalised the location in Hyderabad for its proposed destination mall, which will be even larger with an investment in the range of Rs 1,200 crores.

It will take about two and a half years for this project to be completed. Hyderabad is the sixth city after Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Coimbatore where the group has its presence.

The group has also announced its intent to invest in the food and fish processing segments in the state.  It then announced plans to establish a modern export-oriented meat processing unit at Chengicherla with an investment of Rs 200 crores.

The investments are an outcome of several discussions and a memorandum of understanding signed between Lulu Group and the Telangana government during KT Rama Rao's visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos last year, he said.
