Hyderabad: Based on the clues from CCTV cameras, two notorious members of the Bhagriya gang from Rajasthan were arrested by the city task force on Thursday.

The suspects used to come to the city to commit burglaries. They used to take shelter on railway platforms and return to their native place after execution of the crime.

The police recovered 140 grams of gold and half kg silver worth Rs 4 lakh from the possession of Vinod, 24, and Mangal, 23, while three of their accomplices are absconding.

According to the police, members of the Bhagriya gang move around in groups and strike at different locations. They come to Hyderabad from Ajmer by train and take shelter in Secunderabad, Nampally and Kache-guda railway stations.

They carry a screwdriver and an iron rod to break open the locks. During free time, they conduct a thorough check on locked houses and strike at board daylight.

“They break open the lock of the house with the screwdriver and the iron rod. Two of them enter the house while another person keeps guard,” said Mr C. Shashidhar Raju, city task force additional commissioner, and added that more gangs are working in the city and police teams are keeping a tab on their movements.

Using the same modus operandi, the gang committed two offences in Kacheguda and looted gold and silver ornaments. Based on a tip-off, the task force nabbed them from Kacheguda railway station. They admitted to two offences in Kacheguda and two cases in Chilkalguda. They were handed over to the Kacheguda police for further inquiry.
