SCR wakes up; repairs broken wall at PVNR Marg
The work started from Hussainsagar lake junction to Sanjeevaiah Park station
Hyderabad: The railway authorities sprang into action following a report in these columns on October 23 and started repairing the damaged boundary wall along the railway tracks on PVNR Marg, on Tuesday. This newspaper, in its report, brought to light the unbridled activities of antisocial elements inside the shrubbery after gaining entry through cracks they had made on the wall. They also caused nuisance to several visitors who thronged the area for recreation.
The railway authorities started covering huge openings at nearly 20 places on the wall. The maintenance work is likely to be completed in a day or two. The work started from Hussainsagar lake junction to Sanjeevaiah Park station.
The stretch of the wall covers three colonies - MS Maktha, PS Maktha and Patigadda – and many slums. The boundary wall that starts from opposite Eat Street and ends opposite Sanjeevaiah Park belongs to the South Central Railways (SCR) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), whereas the railways responded within no time of the publication of the report.
South Central Railways spokesperson said, “As Deccan Chronicle brought this matter to our notice, we immediately acted on this, but we urge the local police to act on those who will again try to break the walls. However, the Railway Protection Force will be monitoring the areas. But the local police support is very much needed to stop such occurrences.”
While contacted, the additional deputy commissioner of police, central zone, A. Ramana Reddy, responded, “We will definitely extend our support and cooperation to the railways, our officers will be on a lookout so that no such damage takes place on this boundary wall.”
