EPDCL Vizag signs MoU to strengthen Discoms

Vijayawada: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of the power ministry and Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd. (EPDCL), Vizag, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a strategic move to strengthen distribution companies (Discoms) in the state and address the imminent surge in peak demand.

BEE secretary Milind Deora said consumers, in particular those of domestic sector, will be able to get reduced electricity monthly bills because of lower operational costs for Discoms.

Deora congratulated special chief secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand and EPDCL chairman and managing director Prudwi Tej for entering into an MOU with BEE for providing best services to consumers. This will also address the substantial surge in power demand catapulting from 3,900 MW last year to 4,550 MW this year during summer.
