Visakhapatnam: Visitors disappointed as Kailasagiri ropeway shuts

Visakhapatnam: Visitors to Kailasagiri Hill in Visakhapatnam are an unhappy lot as the popular ropeway, the third route to the hilltop, has been closed from Monday to November 30 for repairs.

The Banerjee family, hailing from Bengal, which has been exploring various attractions in and around Visakhapatnam for past four days, including Araku, Lambasinghi, RK Beach, and Rushikonda, saved Kailasagiri as their last stop to experience the ropeway. However, upon arrival, they were dismayed that the ropeway had been closed.

"We had booked an auto for our visit. After the auto dropped us and left, we realised that the ropeway had been closed. Now, we will have to pay extra to reach the hilltop,” a family member said.

The ropeway has been closed without any advance intimation in newspapers or other media, they lamented.
