ORR and flyovers barred for vehicles from 10 pm on Dec. 31
Only RIGA-bound vehicles to be allowed: Police
Hyderabad: The Outer Ring Road (ORR) and PVNR Expressway will be closed for LMVs on the night of December 31, as a precautionary measure and only RGIA-bound vehicles would be allowed. This was announced by Cyberabad traffic police, who said that the restrictions will be in place from December 31 at 10 pm to January 1, at 5 am.
Apart from the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge, the flyovers remaining closed for vehicular traffic include Shilpa layout, Gachibowli, Bio-diversity, Shaikpet, Mind space, road no. 45, cyber towers, Forum Mall-JNTU, Kaithalapur, Babu Jagjivan Ram (Balanagar), and AMB flyover in Kondapur.
Police also advised drivers of cabs, taxis, and autos to be in proper uniform and carry all their documents. Police said they cannot refuse rides to the public and warned of strict action.
Cyberabad police directed pubs, bars, and clubs hosting New Year events not to allow their customers to drive their vehicles in drunken conditions and warned of action against the establishments for abetting the crime.
The public is also warned of strict action for violations like speeding, wrong routes, jumping signals, rash driving, and riding without a helmet.
Drunk driving checks will begin from 8 pm on December 31. Vehicles will be in detention if minors and those without a driving license are at the wheel. The vehicle owner and driver will be prosecuted, the police warned.
