Vijayawada: Despite written instructions from the Dental Council of India, the Government Dental College, Vijayawada has not installed CC cameras in the campus. As per the guidelines, all dental colleges have to install CC cameras and record the proceedings of theory examinations. The CDs of those recordings have to be kept for further verification, if and when disputes arise.

However, since the inception of the college, the GDC has not followed the norms, though several students of private dental colleges brought the issue to the notice of the DCI. Dr Sabyasachi Saha, secretary, DCI stated in his recent letter that the DCI took a serious view of the matter and decided to give one last opportunity to the dental colleges to furnish information of CC TV’s live-streaming from the colleges.

In the second week of January, Dr Saha had sent a terse communication to all the dental colleges affiliated to various universities: “It is a reminder to dental colleges to furnish requisite information regarding CC TV login details.” He said that it was observed by the DCI that most of the colleges have not yet furnished the information, as asked vide DCI’s letter, with regard to live-streaming of the proceedings during theory examinations to the DCI website.

The Council gave the college seven days to comply. Interestingly, Vijayawada GDC has not sent any communication to the DCI, so far. When this reporter tried to contact GDC principal T. Murali Mohan, he didn’t respond over phone and his office couldn’t provide exact details about his availability, for more than three days.
