Kozhikode: Hi School Kuttikootam,  a project to form a network of students’ IT clubs with the support of organisations like Google, was launched at Nadakkavu Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School on Monday. This is a pilot project of IT@School  and the students of nearly 15 schools, who are  part of the mission,  developed their own animation movies with the assistance of  experts.

The project covers  the four districts  of Alappuzha, Thrissur (Pudukad), Kozhikode (Kozhikode North) and Kannur (Thaliparamba). “Each school will form IT clubs with  20 students in one club. The activities of the club would be carried out without affecting the regular classes,” said  Mr E. Suresh, IT@School faculty.

The students will be  given training in animation during the two-day camp.  In the second phase of the project, they will be given training in five areas, including animation and multimedia, hardware, electronics, language computing and internet and cyber safety, he said. The education department aims to create a club related to IT among the students, similar to Students Police Cadets.  They will get in-depth training in ICT,  group and collaborative learning,  internet usage and  cyber crimes.
