HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has submitted to the High Court that it has set up de-addiction centres in every district headquarters.

S.A.M Rizvi, secretary of health and medical department, told the court they had set up centres in addition to those already working for the cause. The new ones will start functioning from Tuesday, he said.

He was giving the details through a counter affidavit in the petition filed in 2016 by advocate Mamidi Venu Madhav, who complained that the government was not implementing GO 358 of 2013. The said GO was issued by accepting the proposal of the ‘Madhya Vimochana Prachara Committee’ for establishment of de-addiction centres.

One psychiatrist and medical staff will be assigned to the centres.
