HYDERABAD: Kachiguda junction will soon get a facelift following the decision of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to install a waterfall cascade beside Shyam Mandir near Kachiguda railway station with an estimated cost of Rs 25.43 lakh.

This initiative will be on the lines of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which revamped 35 junctions at a cost Rs 100 crore within two years.

A senior GHMC official, requesting anonymity, said that unlike the previous beautification programme where authorities installed a few sculptures and developed landscapes, the current one includes standardisation of footpaths and roads like in Bengaluru. He said junctions would be more pedestrian-friendly and have kerb stones to regulate the speed of vehicles. On the status of the previous programme, he, however, refused to comment.
