SMC chairman dies by suicide
HYDERABAD: The chairman of the school management committee (SMC) of Kalladi village in Aloor mandal of Nizamabad district died by suicide. Reportedly, he was anguished by the delay in the release of funds related to school developmental works.
He is survived by his wife Pushpa and two children.
The victim, 33-year-old Sarangula Vijay, was working with the mandal parishad primary school (MPPS) in Kalladi village. According to sources, Vijay had completed civil works worth ₹5.8 lakh under Mana Ooru-Mana Badi programme.
Of that, the panchayat raj department had released ₹4 lakh and he was waiting for the balance amount for the last few months. Sources said the interest amount for the rest of the money kept piling up.
Makloor police registered a case and shifted the body for postmortem. Makloor sub-inspector B. Yadagiri Goud said Vijay had other debts. The family members rushed Vijay to the government general hospital in Nizamabad, where he was declared brought dead, the SI said.
