Thunderstorms Forecast For AP Till June 1

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Indian Meteorological Department, Amaravati, has forecast thunderstorms for all regions in Andhra Pradesh till June 1 even as mercury has been shooting up in many parts of the state.

Most places have registered temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Ongole registered the highest temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, rising 3.1 degrees above the normal maximum temperature. Jangamaheswarapuram recorded 43.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Kavali 43.3 degrees, Nellore 42.5 degrees, Amaravati 42.5 degrees and Kurnool 42.4 degrees Celsius.

Kalingapatnam continued to maintain its relatively lower temperature of 33. 8 degrees Celsius and Visakhapatnam 34.6 degrees Celsius.

Met reports said conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next two days.

A cyclonic circulation lay over Telangana and neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level. A north-south trough runs from southeast Madhya Pradesh to south Tamil Nadu across Vidarbha, with cyclonic circulation over Telangana, Rayalaseema and north Tamil Nadu.

Under its influence, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely to occur at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are likely over these places.
