Telangana government urged not to demolish mosques, temple
The government has not clarified whether these places of worship would not be disturbed or shifted elsewhere.
Hyderabad: Former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Thursday demanded that the state government ensure that no damage is done to the places of worship on the Secretariat premises. There are two mosques and a temple at the Secretariat.
The Masjid Dafaatir-e-Muatamadi is situated adjacent to the C Block while Masjid-e-Hashmi situated near the D Block. The Nalla Pochamma temple is located in the middle of the premises.
The government has not clarified whether these places of worship would not be disturbed or shifted elsewhere.
Mr Shabbir Ali in a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandarsekhar Rao expressed his concern over the fate of the places of worship. “Though we have no clue on the design, structure or any other details of the proposed buildings, we are forced to understand that all the buildings, including the mandir and mosques in the Secretariat premises would be razed to ground to construct a new complex.”
He said there were reports that the government had given its nod for the demolition of the three places of worship.
Mr Shabbir Ali asked the Cheif Minister to clarify his stand on the fate of these places of worship and issue instructions to ensure no damage or harm to them.
