1,125 PHCs renovated in AP with ₹670 crore: Minister Vidadala Rajini
Visakhapatnam: State government has renovated 1,125 public health centres (PHCs) in the state under Nadu Nedu scheme, spending ₹670 crore during the last four years, said health and family welfare minister Vidadala Rajini on Tuesday.
Speaking to media after inaugurating a new PHC at Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, she underlined that health sector is one of the priorities of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. As a result, 17 new medical colleges are coming up in different regions of Andhra Pradesh. Further, the state government is planning to build 10,032 YSR Health Clinics by spending ₹1,692 crore.
Similarly, Rajini said ₹1,223 crore has been sanctioned to build 121 community health centres and 42 area hospitals. “The government has not hesitated on spending ₹16,855 crore for constructing 17 medical colleges in the state and allocating ₹3,820 crore for modernisation of teaching hospitals,” she stated.
The minister pointed out that history of patients’ health visiting the PHCs as outpatients is being computerised for future reference.
Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagireddy declared that corporate-level treatment will be provided to patients at PHCs and community health centres.
Visakhapatnam mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari said people of every ward in the city will have access to healthcare.
Earlier in the day, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel and King George Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the presence of the health minister for developing a solar power plant at the hospital at a cost of ₹50 lakh using the steel conglomerates’ CSR funds.
District collector Dr. A Mallikarjuna, DMHO Dr K. Jagadeeswara Rao and local leaders were present at the opening of the PHC in Gajuwaka.
