Children's Park Turns Dumping Ground For Construction Material
HYDERABAD: A children's park in PS Rao Nagar has turned into a dumping ground for construction materials on Road No. 9B. The only park in the colony has several heavy material slabs inside the park. Not only are these materials heavy and obstruct children who come to play but they also have sharp edges that pose a great risk for those around them.
“It is highly dangerous to even walk around that area, forget about running and playing there. The pointed edges of the materials can cause grave injuries," said Anupriya K., a resident.
Her neighbour V. Kalyan added, “There are barely any parks left in the city. Some kids don’t even have a decent playground in their so-called corporate schools - this park is their only place to jump, move and play around, converse and communicate with their peers. The authorities have no clue about the threat. They give a damn."
Locals said that the park had become a dumping yard for close to a month now. Several pleas to the municipal authorities have been in vain.
“Only once they had responded but there has been no follow up action. The construction material scattered in the park poses a serious threat to our little ones. We appealed to the authorities to promptly remove these hazardous materials to ensure a secure play environment but to no avail," S.D Kumar, another local, said.
One more person said that the park already wears a gloomy look in the absence of any sort of greenery
Meanwhile, none from the civic body, not even commissioner Swamy, was available for comment.
