HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old pregnant woman who went into labour was stranded in the severely waterlogged roads near her residence in Gambhirpur of Kathalapur mandal of Jagtial district on Thursday. Subsequently, officials deployed an earthmover to ferry her to the outskirts, from where an ambulance took her to the hospital.

Guntuka Manohar, a former village sarpanch, who arranged the JCB, identified the woman as Desaveni Latha, of Rajampet village in Medipally mandal.

“Rajampet villagers and Latha’s family members approached me seeking immediate assistance to shift a pregnant woman. I called a JCB to the spot and shifted the pregnant woman by navigating the waterlogged road. Two villages, Gambhirpur and Thandrial, were marooned,” he said.
