Right time to unearth conspiracy: Kanam Rajendran
Kanam said the truth needed to be unearthed through a free and fair probe.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran on Saturday said the then chief minister Oommen Chandy cannot shy away from his responsibility over the former vigilance director’s alleged conspiracy to sabotage the probe against K.M. Mani in the bar bribe case. He said the CPI had had already pointed out on several occasions that the probe against Mani had been sabotaged at different levels. The vigilance court directive for further probe into the case was a golden opportunity to bring out the truth and also catch those who hatched a conspiracy to derail the probe.
Kanam said the truth needed to be unearthed through a free and fair probe. Immediate steps should be taken to bring the accused to justice. He said there was no question of Mani receiving any support from the LDF just because of the UDF. The CPI state secretary said the LDF had received huge mandate from the people in the recent elections and one of the major issues was corruption. CPI leaders have already made it clear that it would be difficult to convince the people should LDF make any attempt to have a tieup with Kerala Congress.
