Karnataka COVID tally touches a new high with 9K cases in a day
Bengaluru urban was the major contributor with 3,357 fresh coronavirus cases
A day after Karnataka joined the list of states to have crossed 3 lakh total Corona positive cases, the deadly virus touched a new high with 9,386 fresh cases. This is the highest ever single day spike in the state ever since the first case on March 8. With this above fresh load the state has 3,09,792 cases. The state crossed the one lakh mark by end of July and touched 2 lakhs by mid August (Aug 13). In a matter of two weeks, the state has added one more lakh cases.
Bengaluru urban was the major contributor with 3,357 fresh cases. Mysuru reported 895 fresh cases followed by Ballari 550 and Davangere with 391 cases. Rest of the districts has less than 350 cases.
There were 141 total deaths of which Bengaluru reported 59 deaths since Wednesday evening. More than 5,000 people have succumbed to the deadly virus in the state till date.
On a positive note there were 7,866 discharges. The recovery rate in the state has jumped to 70.87 percent. The recovery rate in Bengaluru too has witnessed a jump and stand at 68.13 percent.
The state has 84,987 active cases. Bengaluru has the highest active cases in the state with 35,989 cases. State continues to test more than 60,000 samples and on Wednesday the health department claimed to have tested 68,187 tests taking the total tests till date to 26.48 lakhs.
