Bengaluru: In this judge's court, even monkeys get justice
Over 40 monkeys were marooned at Dhoopatmahagao village of Aurad taluk after the water level in the Manjra River rose.
BIDAR: Thanks to the Good Samaritan District Principal and Sessions Judge Sanjeevkumar Hancheti, more than 40 monkeys that were marooned by the flood waters and languishing without food for days were saved. After heavy rains in the district and excess flow from the reservoirs of Maharashtra, many areas in the district are inundated.
Over 40 monkeys were marooned at Dhoopatmahagao village of Aurad taluk after the water level in the Manjra River rose. It was feared that the monkeys would die if no food is supplied to them. When Justice Hancheti, who has earned a name for his pro-people decisions, came to know of their plight, he directed the personnel of NDRF to bring a boat to help the monkeys.
The judge strapped on a life jacket, jumped into the boat carrying fruits, vegetables and other eatables for the monkeys and took the risky ride through the flooded Manjra to reach the village.
The judge, who was accompanied by fire force personnel and local people, placed the eatables on a cot that was tied to the tree on which monkeys had taken shelter. They left only after the monkeys feasted on the goodies.
